Hi everyone! I hope all you mommas, grandmas and aunties enjoyed your Mother’s Day!

Attached is your cheat sheet of activities for the week! Don’t forget to the SS and Science work even if it is assigned by Ms. Gerardo (our new Kindergarten teacher…she took over Ms. Schropp’s class). You can also watch her Screencast link in the top of the cheat sheet.

On the writing tasks….I wanted to tell you that the kids are used to writing 3-4 sentences so when they are doing the work please remind them of that. For example, on the favorite food page they may write My favorite food is ice cream. But don’t let them stop there! Have them add 2 or 3 more sentences that tell about the ice cream…It is delicious and cold. There are lots of flavors I like. It is a fun treat.

Also, another reminder to click “turn in” on the assignments…this helps me keep track of the activity in the google classroom.

I also tried out some Google Slide tasks for your student under “reading”. They will look at ending sounds and word patterns to click and drag them to the right heading…fingers crossed that this works haha!

We were also told last week that we are supposed to be grading assignments. Well, this might be an easier task for the upper grades than it is for Kindergarten since we typically don’t “grade” tasks in the same way. That being said…the turn in button becomes extremely important! Each week we report out on the activity in the Google Classroom to the district as well as to the principal. Ideally students are completing “all” or “most” of the assignments. The other choices I have to pick from when reporting this information is “some” or “none”. I also do log in and see which students have been working on XtraMath, Zearn and Raz-Kids. Online teaching and learning is kind of stressful for your student and your teachers! Keep going forward as best you can…I just wanted to communicate to you that that records are kept and a report card will be issued for last card marking based on this participation.
