Good morning! Here we are heading into week 3 of the school closure. I hope everyone is hanging in there! Assignments have been posted in Google Classroom for the week. Please use this week to get caught up on anything you may need to in the Google Classroom. If you’re all up to date…good for you! Your family may be ahead of mine! Hahaha!!!
If you heard the President speak over the weekend, you know he has extended social distancing though April 30th. We do not know yet what this means for our state and for our schools here.
Grades for report cards are due today from the staff. There are no plans for printing of the report cards at this time due to the closure. When online instructions are available for access, I will post those. That will most likely not be until after Spring Break.
XtraMath….while I recognize it’s not the most exciting thing for the kids to do, I also recognize the tremendous growth I’m seeing in scores for those who are still practicing it at home. Remember that this should be an independent activity with only your help logging in but NOT with the addition itself. When a student suddenly shows a 50+ point increase that generally tells me they are getting help from a family member when answering. 😉 I generally see steady growth and increased scores over the course of a week which is exactly what I like to see! I’m so impressed with how your students have done with this activity this year!
Zearn….some students have finished! I am now able to adjust the activity so when the K course is finished I can change it to another one.
Raz-Kids….a great tool for reading! Please try to check this out 2-3 times a week.
I hope no one is feeling overwhelmed! Amanda Frisk made a great schedule for her son to follow. If you are interested in seeing it, please reach out to her. Remember that this “home school” time right now is more of a “crisis schooling”. None of this has happened before and is very new for everyone. Aim for 30-45 minute blocks of activity throughout your day with lots of breaks and creative time built in. For my own children we are trying to get in 30 minutes of quiet reading/writing as well additional time for Xtramath, Raz-Kids, Epic and Khan Academy daily. Super fun for my teens lol!
I am going to post instructions in the Google Classroom to access the Eureka math module books for those who would like to complete those from home.
I think you all are amazing!! Thank you for supporting your student during this time.
