Hello, families! Hope you are all staying well!

One of our room moms, Amanda Frisk, created a wonderful cheat sheet on accessing google classroom for those who may still have questions on how to access. Please contact her via email if you need more instructions. I’d like to hire her to start running my blog lol!

To get some indoor exercise today and any day, head over to YouTube and visit our favorite guy Jack Hartmann! I’ve included some links to some of our class favorites.

Tomorrow night, I’d like to read the kids a bedtime story! I’ll try to have one posted by 8 p.m. on Friday for the kids to listen to. 🙂

As far as completing things in Google Classroom goes, do as much as you are able to. I’m trying to post activities that will keep the kids busy practicing the things we’ve been doing in class. A few things that can be done daily…Xtramath.org, Zearn.com (some have finished their Zearn!), Raz-Kids.com, ABCya.com, and of course reading bags. Sight words can still be practiced along with reading books. Consider keeping a journal for your child to practice “Work On Writing” every day for 10-15 minutes. For the math modules posted, please remember that we only do one math lesson a day so I won’t be uploading more modules for a while. These are great for the kids to watch and this entire module is all about adding and subtracting up to 10. Some kids were catching on fairly quickly while others needed some more work. Use pasta noodles, pennies, or any other object to model adding and subtracting as well.

I recognize some of you are feeling very overwhelmed. You can add me into that group! I have set “office hours” on the Remind app. This lets me limit the texts and messages I receive to only during school hours. Anything received after that via email or Remind may not be answered until the next day. Trying to balance online learning while homeschooling 5 kids from Kindergarten to 11th grade has reminded me to put some parameters in place! And honestly, sometimes you and your kids just need a break! Maybe you choose to only to the learning activities three days a week or you only are able to work with them from 7-8 pm each night…do what you can and don’t sweat the rest! We will all get through this together! 🙂
