A case of head lice has been identified in your child’s classroom. As a precaution, please check your child’s scalp and report any cases to the school office immediately.
Lice are transmitted from person to person by direct contact or sharing such clothing as hats, scarves, etc. personal items such as combs and brushes, etc. Please discourage your child from sharing these.
Please watch your child for excessive scratching and check for nits in the hair. Nits are attached to the hair strands and, unlike dandruff, are very difficult to remove.
Any child contracting head lice will be excluded from school until proper treatment has been given. When cases of head lice are identified, it may be necessary for staff and/or the school nurse to inspect other children in the classroom.
Remember after a head lice case to wash all bed linens (blankets, sheets, pillows, pillowcases, etc.), jackets, hats, scarves, etc. in hot water and dried on high heat.
Thank you.
