Hello! I hope everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving break! Here’s your information for this week!

Language Arts–we are working on letters Kk and Qq and the sight word ‘said’; we are also working on sentence writing using our sight words and letter sounds. All students should be writing the beginning and ending sounds for all unknown words (ex. if the word is ‘water’ I would expect to see ‘wr’ at a minimum). For students who are still having difficulties with this, watch for a practice journal to come home in their book bag.

Math–this week we are doing lessons 8-12. These lessons involve weighing objects and using a balance scale.

Science–continuing with our unit on the 5 senses.

Social Studies–we will be working on the idea of goods and services. Talk to your child about these things when you are out grocery shopping or getting a haircut.

PBIS reward clubs start this month! Your child was asked recently what type of reward club they wanted to join (sports, lego, drawing, cooking, etc.). On Wednesday we will have our first reward club meeting. These clubs will be the new PBIS monthly reward celebration.

Remember to dress your child for the weather! Hats, gloves, boots, etc. are needed daily! Also, if your child is wearing shoes that tie….please begin working with them at home on tying or send a different pair of shoes to class that are slip on or velcro. You’d be surprised how much time it takes up in a day to have to keep tying the kids’ shoes! You are also welcome to leave a pair of snowpants in your child’s locker for the season so they don’t have to travel with them daily. Snowpants are required for the days when there is accumulated snow on the ground. No snowpants, boots and change of shoes = black top only play for your child.

I would also like to remind you that if your child has a fever or has been vomiting in the last 24 hours, he/she needs to be kept at home. We share lots of things here in class but would like to limit the sharing of illnesses! 🙂
