Many of you are probably wondering, “What exactly is STEAM and what are my kids learning/doing in that class?” STEAM is an acronym for Science-Technology-Engineering-Arts-Mathematics. All elementary students come to my class for 45 minutes, once a week, to enrich their understanding and experience in these fields. While I do follow the Michigan Science Standards, I also have some wiggle room to veer off of that path and expose the students to content and experiences they wouldn’t normal have the opportunity to learn, such as computer coding, basic robotics, gardening, and social science activities.
