Materials for STEAM at Home

Mrs. Kessel’s directions for collecting materials for STEAM at home.

Please start collecting materials to do STEAM at home. We will be building a lot of things using what you have around the house. “Junk” or recyclable items are exactly what you will need. Some ideas are:
-egg cartons
-cardboard
-plastic containers (yogurt cups, coffee cans, coffee creamer bottles, etc…)
-newspapers
-milk jugs
-bottle tops
-carboard tubes from toilet paper and paper towel rolls
-pop bottles/cans
-netting/bags from onions and oranges
-broken toys (can be used for parts)
-craft materials
-anything you think can be reused in an interesting way!

Check out my last blog post, “Hey, That’s My Monster!” for your first STEAM at Home lesson.

Make sure you comment on this blog or email Mrs. Kessel (kesseld@dearbornschools.org) to check in with me, and be sure to send me pictures and videos of your creations!

    1. Hello! I am sorry it took me so long to respond. I am still figuring out how to fully use this blog. If you are signed in to youtube with a school email sometimes it will restrict what you can see. If you sign out of that account on youtube you should be able to watch my videos, as all of the are set to public. I hope this helps.
