Hello Everyone! Please log on to Google Classroom to see the assignment for this week. You are to complete the budget project by Sunday night.

If you shared it with me, you may continue editing and turn it in when completed.

Stay safe and have a good week! Please reach out by email or remind message if you have any questions!

Hi Everyone!

I need to be able to communicate with you all! Please make sure you are checking your email, iblogs, and Google classroom often (at least once a day!)

I will be sending out new assignments on Monday most likely.

Take care,

Mrs Harrison

Hi, everyone! This has been quite the tumultuous week. I hope you and your families are all in good health. We are going to be moving along. If you cannot complete any of these assignments, or do not have access, that is okay. Right now our mental and physical health of both ourselves and our loved ones is most important. PLEASE BEAR WITH ME–THIS IS A LONG POST! SORRY!

I used this week to reassess how to move forward in this new, bizarre landscape. I really wanted to have you all work on something that would be meaningful in the long run. I have decided to move the budget project (that we were going to end the semester with) up for you guys to work on while you are out of the building. Through this budget project, you will explore the following topics:

  • Gross/Net Pay
  • Student Loans
  • Car Loans
  • Mortgages
  • Health Care
  • Savings/Investments
  • More!

The project is involved. To help you along with the directions, I have included Screencasts of Ms Pius actually doing the directions and explaining them. If you need more assistance, please email me or shoot me a message on Remind. To get started on the project, you will need to join Google Classroom:

  • 1st hour: odqwim3
  • 2nd hour: sfou4ba

You will essentially do this project twice. The first component, which I am assigning today, will ask you to design a budget as if you held a job that requires post-secondary education (Associate’s, Bachelor’s, Master’s, Ph.D degrees, etc.). The second part of the project will ask you to create a budget based on holding a job that requires a high school education. At the end of the project, you will have to compare/contrast how your life would be different depending on the level of education that you chose.

You will have 2 weeks to complete the College Education component of the project. Next Sunday (March 29), I will be looking to see that you have the following slides completed:

  • Step One: Pick a Career (Slides 6-8)
  • Step Two: Taxes and Net Pay (Slides 9-11)
  • Step Three: Student Loans (Slides 12-14)
  • Step Four: My Home and Mortgage/Rent (Slides 15-18)
  • Step Five: Gas and Electric Payment (Slides 19-20)

Good Afternoon,

Some clarity about the information from the State of Michigan about our remote learning from our Principal Alcodray:

Hello Students,

I just wanted to update you on the fast-moving situation regarding our online classes. This afternoon, Governor Gretchen Whitmer expressed her “dismay” about the Michigan Department of Education’s statement, releasing her own statement assuring educators and parents that this time could possibly count. The MDE released its original statement because in order for our time to count, the Michigan legislature must change the law; the MDE has no power here. So what does that mean for us? *It is very possible—even likely—that our time online will count. So keep working.* Our state lawmakers do not want to anger parents and educators across the state. So let’s keep our momentum going.

Thursday and Friday only now from 10am-1pm. You must have a school ID.

Good afternoon. This  message is for Fordson High School students.  We will be passing out chromebooks for students who need one.  Chromebooks will be passed out Thursday, March 19th from 10:00am to 1:00 pm and Friday, March 20th  from 10:00am to 1:00pm.

Distribution of chrome books will be in the back parking lot, next to the Freshmen Academy.  Parents must come to the school, present their child’s student id and sign a form to receive a chromebook.  Only one chromebook will be given per family. If your family received one from the middle school or elementary, we will not provide another one.

Once a student receives the chromebook, they need to sign on and check their teachers’ blogs for assignments.  Reminder Chrome books will not, I repeat will not be given away without Student ID

We ask that everyone exercises patience during this process. Our goal is to support all our students during this difficult time.

We hope you are safe and let us know if you need anything.  Take care.
