Hi, everyone! This has been quite the tumultuous week. I hope you and your families are all in good health. We are going to be moving along. If you cannot complete any of these assignments, or do not have access, that is okay. Right now our mental and physical health of both ourselves and our loved ones is most important. PLEASE BEAR WITH ME–THIS IS A LONG POST! SORRY!
I used this week to reassess how to move forward in this new, bizarre landscape. I really wanted to have you all work on something that would be meaningful in the long run. I have decided to move the budget project (that we were going to end the semester with) up for you guys to work on while you are out of the building. Through this budget project, you will explore the following topics:
- Gross/Net Pay
- Student Loans
- Car Loans
- Mortgages
- Health Care
- Savings/Investments
- More!
The project is involved. To help you along with the directions, I have included Screencasts of Ms Pius actually doing the directions and explaining them. If you need more assistance, please email me or shoot me a message on Remind. To get started on the project, you will need to join Google Classroom:
- 1st hour: odqwim3
- 2nd hour: sfou4ba
You will essentially do this project twice. The first component, which I am assigning today, will ask you to design a budget as if you held a job that requires post-secondary education (Associate’s, Bachelor’s, Master’s, Ph.D degrees, etc.). The second part of the project will ask you to create a budget based on holding a job that requires a high school education. At the end of the project, you will have to compare/contrast how your life would be different depending on the level of education that you chose.
You will have 2 weeks to complete the College Education component of the project. Next Sunday (March 29), I will be looking to see that you have the following slides completed:
- Step One: Pick a Career (Slides 6-8)
- Step Two: Taxes and Net Pay (Slides 9-11)
- Step Three: Student Loans (Slides 12-14)
- Step Four: My Home and Mortgage/Rent (Slides 15-18)
- Step Five: Gas and Electric Payment (Slides 19-20)
