No School!

This is just a friendly reminder that there will be no school on Monday, January 15th in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. day.

Also, we are in need of hand sanitizer.  Any donations are greatly appreciated.

New Math Game

This week we learned a new math game called “What comes next?”  It is in your child’s math binder.  This is how you play the game.

  1. You roll a dice.
  2. You use a colorful chip to cover the next number.  For example, if you roll a 3 you would cover the 4.

Some reminders about the math binders.

  • The number writing should be left inside of the protective sheet.   Your child is to use the provided dry erase marker to practice writing the numbers.  If they write directly on the sheet, they will not be able to re-use it.
  • All the materials need to remain in the binder.  (Dry erase markers, dice, and chips).

If you have any questions, please let me know.

All Aboard!

Tomorrow, we have been invited to watch the Polar Express with the Preschool.  Your child many wear their clean pajamas to school.

Thank You!

Thank you so much to everyone that was able to come in at the end of the school day yesterday to learn and play our Math games!  The kids LOVED it!  We had so many parents who attended and it was such a great opportunity for them to be able to teach you our fun new games!

The binders will be coming home before the Holiday Break!

Math Games Parent Meeting Tomorrow!

We finally have all of the materials we need for our Math binders to start going home.  There is a reminder coming home today as well on pink paper.

The parent meeting is tomorrow at the end of the day,

Tuesday, December 19th, at 3:00 pm

We will be discussing the Math games that your child will be bringing home, and how to play them. Please be here at 3 to ensure we have enough time to go over all the games before sending them home.

I look forward to meeting with you!

Thank you,

Mrs. Harrison

Think it up and write it down!

This is a reminder that the personal narrative for the brainstormers contest is due Wednesday, December 20th.  The writing needs to be done by your child.  You can help them think of the idea, but they are to draw the picture and have them try to stretch out the words they want to write.  Encourage your child to add details to tell their story and to take their time.  This is to be on a single page of paper with the template attached.  If you need an additional template or paper or have any questions, please let me know.

Box Tops and Candy Gram’s

Yesterday, a pink form went home for Candy Cane Gram’s.  If you want your child to participate, the candy canes are a $1 a piece.  All you need to do is fill out the form and send it in.  You can send a candy gram to another student in the school or a teacher.

We are continuing to collect box tops for education.  I am sending home a form that you need to tape the box tops to.

Thank you for supporting our school!

Brainstormers Contest!

The Brainstormers are a group of people that came to our school to do a fun and interactive assembly about writing!  They want to help students become better writers, and to make writing FUN!

We have a competition this month to see what class and students can THINK UP the best, most creative, interesting, and fun stories!  These stories can be personal narratives (true stories),  they can be an opinions, or a Fictional narrative (make believe story).

I have printed out the outline needed to create a Personal Narrative Story at home with your family.  This paper will be coming home today in their folders! If you need any extra paper once you get started, please just ask and I can make your child a copy.

The stories are due back to school by Wednesday, December 20th!  The Brainstormers will pick a few of their favorite stories to bring to life at our next assembly in February.

Take your time and think up a great story!

Literacy Night!

Please join us tonight from 5:00-6:30 for literacy night!  There will be many fun literacy based activities for everyone!  Also, our Book Fair will be open to parents and students.  We look forward to seeing you there!
