Halloween Parade!

Please join us for a Halloween Parade at McDonald Elementary on Tuesday, October 31st.    We would like to invite all parents and grandparents to come see our parade at 1:45 p.m. outside on the track.  Students can wear a costume, dress in orange and black or choose to just wear their regular clothes.  The PTA would like to remind you of the following to make this day safe and enjoyable for our students.

  • Please donate as much candy as you can, starting now thru Monday, October 30th to ensure that all students receive an enjoyable amount of candy.
  • Students CAN wear their costumes to school over their regular clothes or bring it with them but NO mask or large props such as (swords, brooms, toys, wands) etc.  As always toy guns are never permitted to be brought to school.  In the event of bad weather we will continue on with the Halloween parade indoors.  Let’s hope the sun is shining!

Please have your child practice putting their own costume on and taking it off for when they have to use the bathroom.

  • Parent volunteers are needed at 1:30 to help in classrooms and be part of the parade.  Please return the sheet that was sent home today, if you would like to volunteer and be part of the Halloween fun!

Thank you for your cooperation in helping us make this day a special, safe school day!oogl

Weekly Recap

Hello Wonderful Kindergarten Families!

Your children have been working so hard!  Continue working with your child using the materials in the book bag and make sure it is returned to school everyday.  This week, I started sending home a star chart.  This needs to be in your child’s folder everyday.  At the end of the day, your child colors in the star of the day with the color they are at on the behavior chart.  At the end of the week, please initial that you have seen it.

Here is what we’ve been working on this week:

Reading:  We read 2 different versions of “The Three Pigs.”  We focused on who are the characters, what is the setting, and how to use this information to retell a story.

Writing: We have been focusing on narrative writing, or telling a story that relates to ourselves.

Sight Word:  We learned how to read the word “Like”

Hand Writing/Letter Identification: We learned how to identify, say the sound, and  write the letters Gg and Ii.

Please read with your child, have them write there names, and help them with letter identification and sight words.
