Weekly Recap

Hello Wonderful Kindergarten Families!

Your children have been working so hard!  Continue working with your child using the materials in the book bag and make sure it is returned to school everyday.  This week, I started sending home a star chart.  This needs to be in your child’s folder everyday.  At the end of the day, your child colors in the star of the day with the color they are at on the behavior chart.  At the end of the week, please initial that you have seen it.

Here is what we’ve been working on this week:

Reading:  We read 2 different versions of “The Three Pigs.”  We focused on who are the characters, what is the setting, and how to use this information to retell a story.

Writing: We have been focusing on narrative writing, or telling a story that relates to ourselves.

Sight Word:  We learned how to read the word “Like”

Hand Writing/Letter Identification: We learned how to identify, say the sound, and  write the letters Gg and Ii.

Math: We continue learning how to write our numbers 0-5 and understand the quantity related to the numbers.

Science: We continue to learn about forces.  In Enrichment, Mrs. Farhat had the children experiment with how much force it would take to knock a wall down with a small wrecking ball without knocking down the surrounding houses.

Please read with your child, have them write there names, and help them with letter identification and sight words.
