Peek at Our Virtual Week

Good afternoon Haigh families! I am glad the weather decided to get warmer this weekend. The sunshine makes everything better. This week you may notice a bit of a format change on the way lessons are presented. This is just to keep in the Dearborn guidelines that were presented to us from the district. Everything will still be submitted using Google Classroom, just the formatting is different.

I just want to give a BIG, GIANT thank you to all of you PARENTS for helping not only your child but me as well. I know that being at home all day with multiple children at multiple grade levels with different teachers and expectations can be super overwhelming! My two boys give me a hard time every now and again but they are doing pretty well! YOU GUYS are doing a GREAT job and I really appreciate your support as we continue on with learning from home. I miss your children so much and look forward to the weekly virtual meetings that we have. As you use the link below please take note of the suggested amount of minutes each day per subject. The document is 2 pages, with the second page being the lesson plan page. There are some links and even a recorded lesson of me.

Spring Break Activities

Good Evening Haigh families! I hope you enjoyed the beautiful day today! My family and I enjoyed the sunshine a lot. We took a long walk, a long bike ride, and even cleaned all the windows! When this virus is all said and done, I will have a very clean house!

I hope you are all staying healthy and safe. The news we got last week about having no more “in class” school really hit me hard! This whole thing has made me very emotional lately. I pray that all of YOU stay well, stay positive, and enjoy each other.

This week my family and I, like many of you, were supposed to spend some quality time away on vacation. With everything going on we had to cancel. While this was a major disappointment to all of us, we are grateful to be healthy and happy at home. This week is a break from “schoolwork” and a break from the mental load that all of us were all of a sudden hit with. Please take this week to enjoy the little things and be grateful for all that we have.

Below is a list of FUN optional things for you to do with your child. Feel free to browse the list and pick something to enjoy as a family.

SPRING BREAK FUN!

Have a great week and stay positive, healthy, and strong. We will return with online instruction on the 13th of April 🙂

Peek at Our Virtual Week 3

Good afternoon Haigh families. I hope this post finds you and your family well. I loved hearing from many of my students last week. This week I plan to reach out and see their faces via Google Hangouts or Zoom. I will keep you posted on this….I have missed their faces and voices! Thank you for supporting your child last week with assignments. I have had great feedback on the Scholastic articles. My own boys are loving them! There is always something interesting that they find to share with me and their dad. I hope everyone is doing okay with the fractions on a number line concept. Zearn lessons do a great job to help students understand concepts. The you tube lessons are very helpful as well. A good idea may be to write out a quiz for your child pertaining to the concepts from last week (Like math quiz Monday). I found this quick, online quiz to do a check in with your child. I hope this is helpful! Enjoy the weather this week and get outside and enjoy the fresh air of spring 🙂

Peek at Our Virtual Week 2!

Good afternoon Haigh families. I hope you are all doing well and feeling healthy. This experience is difficult and trying but I am confident that we will beat this pandemic and reconnect again soon. I think that this whole thing is teaching us many things: love your family, enjoy the small moments, don’t take things for granted, and to keep a positive attitude. My family has been keeping our distance from family and friends and passing the time with board games (CLUE is their new favorite), playing roller hockey, house chores (planning to paint Austen’s room this week), crafts, lot’s of movies (Thank you Disney-Plus), cooking, baking, reading, writing, and the laundry that STILL never stops 🙂 I hope you guys are staying positive and helping your children pass the time with some fun family time.

Thank you for working hard last week to help your child access our virtual platform of Google Classroom. I know first hand how hard it can be to get your own children to stay on task each day. This is a break from their normal routine, a new way of learning, and some of you may be unsure of how to support your child during this time. So many of my friends have reached out and expressed how difficult it is with juggling their own jobs and  teaching multiple children in the home. Just know that every little bit that they do will help them from experiencing that “Summer Slide” or should we say “Spring slide”.

Like always, I thank you for your support and the encouragement you give your child each day. If you need help or have a question please reach out by e-mail or through the remind app.
