Peek at Our Week

Good afternoon Haigh families! Well, we made it to the end of this crazy year! This will definitely be a year to remember. A year to remember not only because of the CoronaVirus, but a year to remember because we all came together to work to make remote learning a success. I can’t thank you enough for the excellent support and commitment you have all made to ensure your children get practice in many of the 3rd grade essential standards. I know that school from home is challenging, especially when balancing work, multiple children and age levels, sharing computers, and keeping everyone’s feelings and attitudes into consideration. So again, I just wanted to extend a BIG round of applause and a HUGE thank you for helping me make a difference. I will forever remember your children and this year for so many other reasons besides the CoronaVirus. Happy end of the year and I wish all of you a safe, healthy, FUN summer! I can’t wait to see each of my students back at Haigh in the fall!

Reminders for the week:

  • You have no assignments this week! But you do have an optional memory book posted on Google Classroom. There is also a Video message from me saying Goodbye 🙂 end of year message.
  • Please take advantage of the online sites such as Zearn, I-Ready, and Raz-kids throughout the summer.
  • On June 11th from 10-11:30 you can pick up materials if you missed the resource pick up day in May.
  • Link to plans for the week

Have a great week and an awesome summer of 2020! I am so proud of you all and can’t wait to see you again in the fall. Fly high Haigh Owls!

Peek at Our Virtual Week

Good evening Haigh families. What a beautiful weekend we have had! I hope you had some fun in the sun and delicious food on the grill 🙂

I cannot believe we have come to our final 2 weeks of the 19-20 school year. This will for sure, be one to remember!

Reminders for the week:

  • Michigan company economic slides due Friday the 5th.
  • Last chance to pick up Haigh materials will be on June 11th from 10:00-11:30.
  • Information on the new ELA curriculum for next school year Click here
  • Link to this weeks lesson plans

I hope you are all finding out some interesting and fun information about your project. I know Maya went for a visit to Domino’s and learned some fun facts! Her mom shared a picture that she can also use in her slides.

I am looking forward to seeing your work! Have a great week 🙂

Peek at Our Virtual Week

Good evening Haigh families! I hope everyone had a great first tastes of summer. The weather sure did redeem itself after a soggy Friday. I hope you all enjoyed outside time this Memorial Day and on EID to those who celebrate. We got the boys a really cool double slip and slide that has kept them busy and cool this weekend.

Only a few more weeks of the 19-20 school year! It is hard to believe that we have been away from Haigh for so long. I really miss seeing the kids smiles, hearing their voices (and jokes), but most of all, I miss seeing them progress as they learn and grow.

This week you will notice our last project of the school year; the Made in Michigan project. Students will research a product made in Michigan and research the human, capital, and natural resources of the company as well as it’s history. Usually this project is done on poster boards with a presentation in front of the class. This year it will look a little different, but it should be a fun project to end the year and our 3rd grade Michigan studies unit. Look for an informational video coming out tomorrow afternoon. This project is due on June 5th but can be completed before 🙂 You will notice a lighter workload over the next 2 weeks as we prepare for the end of the year.

Thank you to those who came to pick up your child’s desk and locker items last week. If you did not have the opportunity, Mr. Short is checking into scheduling one more day to pick up items. I will keep you posted on further information.

Please see the lessons for this week below:

Peek at Our Virtual Week

Good afternoon Haigh families! Happy Mothers day to all the hardworking, amazing moms! I sincerely hope that you enjoy your day today and your beautiful children spoil you to pieces!

I enjoyed reading all of the opinion papers regarding limiting screen time last week. They had some really great reasons to increase the amount of screen time especially during this time. They also had a lot of good reasons as to why to limit technology to only an hour each day. Great job to all! Reading over your work is rewarding and I enjoy sharing them with my family:)

I just want to thank you all for your continued commitment and support during this remote learning phase of learning. Your children are doing a great job keeping up with assignments and working hard to keep learning and growing as a Haigh owl. I recognize that YOU parents are juggling many different things right now and I sincerely appreciate your support.

I have a few things to share with you:

Student personal items pick up days:

  • Last week I was able to enter the school and pack up your child’s desk and locker. You will be able to pick up these items on May 14th and 15th from 1:00-3:00 P.M. Mr. Short will communicate to the community this week on procedures.

Peek at Our Virtual Week

Good evening Haigh families! I hope you are all doing well. The sunshine and warmer weather made me smile today. I am missing each of my students and am really disappointed that we can no longer use Google Meets or Zoom to video chat with our class. You will find recorded video lessons/messages from me in replacement. I will let you know if something changes.

Great job on the National Parks Research project! I enjoyed reading them this weekend. It really is great to learn about all of the beautiful nature we have in our country. I can’t wait to visit some of these parks soon!

Please click on the link below labeled Lessons for the week of 4-27-20 to find a list of this weeks assignments. All assignments are due on Friday unless otherwise noted. All assignments can be found over on our Google Classroom.
