Thanksgiving Week :)

Good Evening Haigh Families 🙂

Thanksgiving week is here! I don’t know about you all….. but I am ready for family time. With the cold weather and all the Christmas decorations up it has really got me in the holiday mood!

As you know, Haigh students participated in a canned food drive to help support those in need. I am so proud of our class for collecting 116 cans! AWESOME! While we did not win the BIG prize, (Congrats to Mrs. Greco’s 4th grade class!) We did an awesome job and our efforts are going to help others have a plentiful Thanksgiving.

Thank you to all the parents for coming out to parent teacher conferences last week. It was great to meet face to face with each of you. It makes me smile to know what great families I get to work with.

This week is extra short and we will be taking our spelling and vocabulary test from last week on Tuesday. We have a fun assembly planned for Tuesday morning thanks to our awesome PTA. The name of the show is “Mad Science: Fire and Ice.” I think it sounds like an interesting show. We will take our pretest for our new unit in Math and play some engaging turkey themed math games to complete our short week.

On Friday, a PINK note went home with students regarding the Haigh school lock in. This event is planned for Friday, December 2nd. The cost for this activity is ten dollars and promises to be loads of FUN! This event is open to the first 200 students who sign up. If you would like your child to attend, please complete the form and return it ASAP to ensure your child gets a spot.

That is all for now 🙂

We have late start on Wednesday. Students start class at 9:35.

Parent/Teacher conferences are after school on Wednesday and Thursday for those parents who I did not meet with last week. School districts in Wayne County have placed a proposal on the November 8th ballot to provide added funding for our schools. It is the “Regional Enhancement Millage Proposal.”

If approved by the entire county, the 2 mil proposal will generate approximately $6.2 million from Dearborn but the District will receive $7.8 million in additional funding for our schools.  Money would go to local schools starting this year and the millage expires after six years.  Read the rest of this entry »

PBIS Celebration!

Dear Families,

On Monday, October 31st we will be having our first PBIS celebration of the year. This celebration is to recognize your child’s positive behavior for the month of October. Our theme will be a Fall Festival! This event will take place outside, so let’s hope the weather stays pleasant!

Be sure to check the weather forecast and make sure your child is dressed appropriately.  Students will be outside for 45 minutes, therefore, a scarf, hat or mittens may be good idea.

Thank you,

Haigh PBIS Committee
