Teamwork is FUN in Room 33!

Students worked hard today during our very first science STEM activity. We discussed what an engineer is and how they help solve problems by asking a question, making a plan, and putting their plan into action. Today’s question was which group can make the LONGEST paper chain using only 1 piece of paper, scissors, glue, and tape. I was very impressed at how well they took this task and really worked together with smiles, interest, and perseverance. We will discuss what we noticed about each of our chains during class tomorrow.

Happy Summer

Happy summer Haigh families!! On my first day of summer break I just wanted to take a minute to wish all of you a fun and safe summer. I had such a great year with your children. They truly were the most enjoyable, respectful, and FUN class I have had. The memories and relationships we have made will be in my heart forever. Your child has worked hard all year to prepare themselves for fourth grade and beyond. As summer begins, please consider frequent trips to the libraries, reflection through writing of summer activities, (Maybe even emailing their old 3rd grade teacher 🙂 ) and of course family FUN activities.

Have a GREAT summer 🙂

PBIS Picnic

Dear Families,

On Wednesday, May 31st we will be having a PBIS celebration to recognize your child’s positive behavior. This month’s celebration theme is All School Picnic! We will be having our picnic outside, so let’s hope the weather stays pleasant!

Your child may bring a towel or blanket to sit on during the picnic, and we strongly encourage students bring a brown bag lunch since we will be eating outside. However, lunch will still be available for purchase in the cafeteria.

Thank you,

Haigh PBIS Committee

Attention Haigh families! Please wear GREEN tomorrow for our whole school clean up parade.Parents, please consider joining us along the parade route to show your support and get a snap shot of your child.

Tomorrow we have more M-Step testing. We are almost finished and the kids are doing great. Please make sure your child eats a healthy breakfast and packs a healthy snack to “feed” their brains.

Reminder that Wednesday is our school wide picnic at 11:30 followed by field day in the afternoon (Please see the previous post about field day information). Students may bring in picnic blankets or beach towels to enjoy their lunches on.We are looking forward to this fun event.

We will not have any new spelling or vocabulary words this week. We will continue with last weeks list since their was little time and emphasis on these words due to testing. We will test on Thursday. We will also be having a social studies assessment on Wednesday. Please look for the study guide to come home tomorrow. Also, just a reminder that the “Made in Michigan” project information went home last week and is due May 31st. We will have some time in class to do some research about their products this week. Poster and presentation preparation are to be done at home.

No school on Friday.

Field Day Information

Dear Parents and Guardians,

To help us celebrate another fantastic school year, we will be having Field Day on Wednesday, May 24, 2017.  For this Field Day event students will work through stations with their class to develop skills they have learned in physical education and have tons of fun!  The schedule for the event is as follows:

9:00 AM – 11:00 AM Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd Grades

11:30 AM – 12:30 PM All School Picnic

1:00 PM – 3:00 PM 3rd, 4th and 5th Grades

On May 24, students need to wear clothes that will allow them to be physically active outside, including tennis shoes.  They need to bring a water bottle.  There will be a station to refill bottles if needed.  Students are highly encouraged to bring a bagged lunch to enjoy at the all school picnic.  They are welcome to bring a towel or blanket to sit on as well.  Students will be able to purchase school lunch if necessary.

We are looking for one parent from each classroom to donate a treat for the entire class to enjoy after their session.  Please contact your child’s classroom teacher if you are interested in proving a treat.

Lastly, we need 15 parent volunteers for both sessions to help run stations.  If you are interested in volunteering, fill out the lower portion and return it to Mr. Peecher.  Please, contact Mr. Peecher with any questions.

Thanks!  The PBIS/Field Day Committee  peechers@dearbornschools.org
*We will only be able to accommodate students & parent volunteers for this event.
