Peek at Our Week

on November 6, 2016

Good afternoon Haigh families.

The weather is AMAZING! I will make this post quick!

This week we will continue to work on strengthening our skills at reading and understanding non fiction texts. We will pay close attention to the text features and focus on proving our answers by highlighting them in the text.

In writing we will continue to work on compare papers. Last week we compared ourselves to our table partner so students had the chance to really understand the “structure” of our compare papers. This week we will be reading an article about the upper and lower peninsula and focus our paper around this topic.

In Math students will work on subtraction strategies as well as a continued focus on two step word problems.

In social studies we will begin our unit on the history of Michigan.

We will be finishing up our plant/animal brochures by Wednesday and begin to look at our new unit of light and sound.

Academic words ( We will only have 4 this week since it is a short week 🙂 )

  1. Caption- A sentence that explains a picture.
  2. Difference-The result of a subtraction problem.
  3. History- The study of the past.
  4. Syllable-A part of a word that is pronounced together.

Reminder that we will have NO SCHOOL ON TUESDAY! Please GET OUT AND VOTE! This is a very important election, and your voice deserves to be heard 🙂
