Good afternoon Haigh families and a BIG Happy Birthday to the state of Michigan! Michigan’s statehood turns 183 today. Be sure to remind your child 🙂 I hope each of you are enjoying the weekend!
Reminders for the week:
- Module 3 math test tomorrow
- Climate brochure due on Wednesday (This was explained and given to your child on Friday. Please see their folder as the brochure and rubric are inside)
- We will be finishing up our math NWEA this week!
In reading this week we will finish up instruction with main idea. We will move on to a revisit of fiction text with an emphasis on asking and answering questions in a text. We will also touch on the theme of a story. In writing we will continue to work on our snow paper.
In math this week we will test on module 3 tomorrow. A study guide went home on Friday. Please be sure they look this over today as it mirrors the unit test. We will move on to unit four which is about area. We will still be working on building our multiplication fluency with our math masters minute tests. Ask your child what fact they are on and help them beat it by creating a set of flashcards 🙂
In social studies we will begin our unit on the growth of Michigan.
Academic Vocabulary:
- Agriculture- the practice of growing crops and raising animals.
- Decade- a period of ten years.
- Obtuse angle- an angle greater than 90 degrees.
- Conflict- the struggle between 2 characters in a story.
