Peek at Our Week

on February 15, 2021

Good Morning Haigh Families. I hope you are enjoying the snow this morning. I am glad we are home and cozy today 🙂

This week we will begin to transition back to in person learning labs. Please review the schedule that was sent out last week or click here. Please note that Wednesday there is no in person labs, but we will meet via Zoom if your child is on the schedule. Please note that information regarding your child following the “A” or “B” hybrid schedule will come out tomorrow afternoon.

This week in reading we will continue to look at non fiction articles relating to famous inventions and inventors. We will begin collecting information on our planning chart for our opinion essay. In social studies last week we began to take a look at the Three Fires Native American Tribes that lived here in Michigan. We watched an interesting video so students were able to understand how Native Americans used the land, animals, and natural resources to live on the land here in Michigan. Tomorrow (During asynchronous instruction) students will read 3 articles about these three tribes and complete a graphic organizer to understand more about them. We will be discussing them further this week in class. If possible, please support your child in the reading of these articles.

In math we are beginning our unit on fractions. Please be sure your child is caught up on Zearn so they can stay on pace with the daily lessons and not fall behind. Fractions prove to be a challenging concept for 3rd graders.

Reminders for the week:

  • Tuesday–Asynchronous learning day. Students will have NO LIVE INSTRUCTION but assignments to complete on Schoology
  • Wednesday–Regular classes via Zoom resumes. I will see your child at 9:00 am for reading. Please check the learning lab schedule to see if your child will meet with me in afternoon.
  • Thursday/Friday- First days of in-person learning labs. Please refer to the schedule to check when your child comes to Haigh.
  • Weekly Assignment sheet click here

Stay warm and safe in the SNOW 🙂
