This week we will continue to work through our NWEA winter testing. Almost everyone is finished with their reading assessment and we have moved on to language at the end of the week. We should be progressing to math by the end of this week. Please remind students to try their best and put forth their best effort.
We will continue to work on main idea through our Scholastic classroom magazines and other non-fiction articles. We will also continue our informational paper on snow.
In math we will be spending much of the week working on 2 step word problems. Making sure students are knowing what the question is asking to determine what operations they have to use to get the correct answer. We will also work on multiplication fact fluency with our 1 minute fact quizzes, Be sure to ask your child what fact they are on so you can help them practice 🙂
In social studies we will begin our new unit on the growth of Michigan.
In science we will continue our lesson on climate around the world and begin researching a specific place. We will be making brochures to extend our learning.
We will be having a spelling test on Friday but we will not have any academic vocabulary this week. Please make sure your child is reading for at least 25 minutes each night and recording it on their January reading log.
Have a great evening 🙂
