In reading this week we will look at finding the central message in a story by using character clues to decide what the author is trying to tell us through the actions of the characters. In writing we will be working on opinion pieces and focusing on the main idea or “meat” paragraphs and using a text source to support our reasons.
In math we will focus on finding the elapsed time by reading an analog and digital clock and solving time problems on an open number line. Please review telling time on an analog clock with your child, some are still getting mixed up when solving time to the nearest minute. Later in the week we will look at measuring weight and liquid volume in Metric units.
In social studies we will look be studying the regions that Michigan is divided into and understand the commonalities that each region has.
In science students will explore the properties of magnets.
