This week in reading we will begin the week with taking another look at myths and learn how to make a claim about a character and support it with evidence and reasoning (CER) from the text. Students will be getting a Common Core reading workbook in which we will begin to use to support our reading instruction. We will familiarize ourselves with these new books this week by reading different fables and myths and answering part a and b questions. In writing this week we will be working on Halloween themed writing with an emphasis on using good “show not tell” description. We brainstormed on Friday all things spooky, so I am sure our writing will be extra exciting this week:)
In math this week we will be preparing for our unit 1 test. We will be working through a study guide and plan to take the test Wednesday or Thursday of this week (depending on how much we get through Monday and Tuesday). The study guide will be sent home tomorrow or the latest on Tuesday.
In social studies we will be finishing up our slides about Michigan land forms and bodies of water.
In science this week we will begin working through our next mystery science lesson and learning about friction as a force that slows things down.
Enjoy the rest of your sunny Sunday!
