Peek at Our Week

on October 14, 2018

Good afternoon Haigh families. I hope you are enjoying this picture perfect fall weekend.

Last week we learned about myths in reading and worked on revising narratives. This week we will continue to read and discuss elements of myths and learn about legends. We will focus on the legends of Michigan that will tie into our social studies curriculum. We ended our week with a half day and enjoyed creating pumpkins to decorate our classroom. Students designed them with their own creative twists. This week we will create a descriptive paragraph to tell a little story about our pumpkins. We will also be working on more “Halloween” themed descriptive writing about a haunted house 🙂

In math this week we will work on reviewing for our unit one MATH TEST on Wednesday. I will be reading each question orally and stressing the multiple directions that each question has. Please review the math study guide in the previous post with your child.

In social studies this week we will be learning about the human characteristics of Michigan and looking at how Michigan is divided into different regions.

In science we will look at magnets. Students will explore the surprising properties of magnets and experiment with an invisible force that acts at a distance.
