Good Afternoon Haigh families 🙂
We sure did have a BUSY week last week! A fun field trip to the roller rink followed by our guest reader Dr. Maleyko and finishing up with our spring concert. Due to all the FUN, we had to reschedule our spelling test to Monday! Check out our week in pictures (Minus the roller rink since they were all fuzzy!)
This week is also another BUSY week. We have some guest readers scheduled, our PBIS party, and we will end the week with an ice cream social.
In writing this week we will wrap up our astronaut paper. We will use our rubric to peer edit our papers. We will begin to look at the narrative text structure and practice narrative elements in our writing such as dialogue, using a lot of adjectives, practicing showing not telling our story, and how to properly end a story.
In reading we will begin working on our M-STEP prep packet. As a grade level we compiled a packet of prep materials to use to prepare our students for success on the test. They will be exposed to questions that are structured in the same way the M-STEP questions are. This packet is very lengthy, but I am hoping we can get through a good portion of it.
In math we will be working on locating fractions on a number line. We will also work on problem solving and completing our answers using the CER method. Please have your child complete the pre-test on frontrowed.com under the fraction strand. They will be working on this site in math rotations to help develop fraction concepts. Please also encourage your child to visit this site at home.
In social studies we will finish up our unit by writing our opinion with support on wind mills.
