Good morning Haigh families. Last week was very busy! We had so much fun participating in spirit week and enjoying our visitors!
Reminders:
- Field Trip to the Lincoln Park Skating center TOMORROW
- Pack a healthy lunch in a bag with your name on it
- You will get your skates at the rink
- We will return to Haigh around 2:00.
- Chaperones will meet in my classroom by 9:00 and drive their child to the rink.
- Spring concert at Haigh on Wednesday at 7:15-7:45. Students should arrive by 7:00. Mrs. Conrad would like the students to wear red, white, and blue for the America theme.
- Math test: Tuesday
- Social Studies test: Thursday
This week we will continue to work on our reading skills of using CER (claim, evidence, reasoning) in our google classroom to help us locate text evidence in our reading to support our answers. We will also begin our M-Step prep materials to prepare students for their upcoming assessments in May. Please encourage your child to visit mobymax.com and frontrowed.com to do some extra practice in preparation for their tests.
In writing we will continue to work on our astronaut informational writing.
In math we will test on our geometry unit on Tuesday. Our next unit is all about fractions. This concept can be tricky for some, and even trickier if students are not proficient with their multiplication facts. Please continue to encourage practice with these at home.
In social studies we will finish up our unit on public issue this week. A study guide will be sent on Tuesday or Wednesday. Ask your child about the issue we have been looking into: Should we place wind farms in the great lakes? Your child should be able to communicate both pros and cons of putting wind turbines in the great lakes.
In science we are wrapping up our unit with quick quizzes and fun experiments. I am so excited to visit the roller rink tomorrow and engage in STEM activities about force, motion, friction, and design.
