Good Afternoon Haigh Families 🙂
This week we will continue to read realistic fiction and focus on making inferences within a text. We will share our informational books this week. Your child has worked extremly hard on these books and I can’t wait to see and hear their final products. We will also look at our NWEA scores and write new goals for the spring, as well as new behavioral and personal goals.
In math we will touch on decimals and review place value of large numbers. We will continue with our multiplication timed tests. Thank you for your support at home as you help and encourage them to really “know” their facts. A strong knowledge of multiplication facts really helps them with other math concepts as they continue this year and beyond.
In social studies we will continue to learn about the three branches of government and their functions. In science we will begin our unit on force and motion.
Academic Vocabulary:
- Conflict- The problem in the story.
- Force-A push or a pull.
- Infer-Figuring out something that wasn’t completely explained in the story.
- Equation- A math sentence that has two numbers followed by an equal sign. (4+2=6)
- Motion- The action of moving or changing position.
Enjoy the SUPERBOWL! May the BEST team win 🙂 I don’t have a favorite, I watch it more for the funny commercials and the half time show!
