WOW! I cannot believe that February is almost here! As the school year is moving along, I would like to take a minute to thank all of the wonderful families for their support this year. After two weeks of testing, I am ready for a normal week of school! Your children are hard workers, well mannered, and overall amazing. THEY are a reflection of YOU and I am so LUCKY to be their teacher.
As you may know, we wrote our opinion pieces on our favorite restaurants in Dearborn. We sent those letters to each place of business and ……we have begun to receive some letters from the businesses. The students were so excited on Thursday when Seema received a reply back from Mr. Cheese Pizza! They were thrilled to read her paper and offered our class free pizzas!! Seema actually cried tears of joy! So sweet! In addition to Seema’s reply, Mr. Short visited our classroom on Friday to let us know that he heard from Olga’s Kitchen in response to Pauly’s letter he wrote. They really enjoyed his writing and offered us a treat that we will receive sometime this week. It’s great to see recognition for students hard work!
This week we will study the genre of realistic fiction and review theme and character traits. We will finish up our informational books and share them this week. We will get back to reading groups and daily 5 🙂
We will learn about how the government is organized as we discuss the three branches of government. We will begin our new unit of force and motion in science this week.
Just a reminder that we have our unit 4 math test tomorrow. We will begin with our new unit this week. Please make sure your child is studying their multiplication facts each night. We are still doing the math facts challenge! A shout out to Jordan who is working super hard and will be taking her “mixed up” facts tomorrow 🙂
