Section 1.3 Study Guide
Hey everyone,
I looked through your questions you came up with and they were impressive!
I compiled a list of important ones that I wanted to give you to test yourself.
There will be two documents, one without answers and another with the correct answers.
I encourage you to work through This study guide first.
Once you have gone through the quiz, check your answers Using this answer sheet.
Email me with any question, although I might be slow to respond because Saturday is my wedding shower!
Have a great weekend,
-Mr. Bailey

Life Science Post Unit Quiz
Before we began our Life Science unit (about 3 months ago) I had you show me what you knew about different concept in life science. You were asked to answer three writing prompts to the best of your ability. Truth is, you didn’t all do excellent, but that’s okay because you hadn’t learned those concepts yet!
Well, these questions will be making a comeback tomorrow as part of you post-unit assessment for Life Science. Instead of writing a few sentences for all three questions, you will choose one question to write a short paper about in class.
Because you will be selecting a question, I wanted to give you a chance to see them ahead of time. Take a look at the questions below and decide which one you feel the most confident about writing a response to.
- Describe 4 parts of a cell and their function
- Describe the process in which plants make their own food
- Explain how characteristics are passed form parent to offspring.
I’ll see everyone tomorrow! Please remember your Life Science books, you will be turning them in tomorrow (for real this time, I promise).

Thursday, March 24th, 2016
Hello everyone,
Well, you made it, it is Spring Break! A couple of quick housekeeping things to update you on.
*STUDENTS ABSENT 3/24/16*
You have a Mitosis Quiz to make up. This can be done online and open note. To find the quiz, please follow these steps.
- Log on to iLearn
- Click on “Bailey 7th Grade Science.”
- Scroll down to find the “MITOSIS” quiz.
- Begin the quiz.
- When you finish, please send me an email with your score, preferably as a screenshot
*EVERYONE*
Your scores are updated in the Gradebook. There may be a few formative points that will get uploaded over break, but nothing that will drastically change your grade.
If you are panicked about your overall grade after today’s quiz remember, this was the first Summative grade for the 5th card marking, so it will change your grade a large amount. We still have 4 weeks, there will be more summative points, and you can retake if needed after break.
Please, don’t worry too much about your grade over the break. It is a break for a reason. If you are traveling, have fun and be safe.
Enjoy your break and enjoy your Easter!
See everyone in April!

Happy End of the Fourth Marking Period
Good news class, you survived the 4th carding marking and you are 2/3 of the way through your 7th Grade year.
Bad news class, you only get 2 more card marking with your favorite teacher ever ;-).
Final grades are pretty much done, but if you want the most accurate grade, you will want to check your student connect on Sunday during the afternoon. Unfortunately, I can no longer accept any missing work as you have no way to give it to me before I have to post grades.
*For Parents*
If you did not receive the slip, Spring conferences will be held Tuesday after school from 3:30-6:30. All are welcome to attend but I highly encourage the attendance of parents who are worried about your child’s grade. I will also be calling to invite you if I have a worry about your child’s year long grade.
I hope to see you Tuesday regardless to catch up and discuss your child’s progress.
Have a wonderful weekend and enjoy this excellent spring weather!

Cell Actions Test Information
Howdy class,
I want to start out by congratulating you, you just about finished your 4th card marking of 7th grade! Only two more to go!
Along with the end of the card marking, comes card marking grades. I understanding some of you were less than happy about your grade on today’s test. Everyone should now be able to review the test on iLearn to see which questions you had wrong. However, you will not be able to see the correct answer (I can’t make it THAT easy for you).
I have talked to a number of you about retaking the test, and I am going to allow it regardless of the grade you received on the first test.
In order to retake this test, you must do the following:
- Be missing NO MORE than one assignment in the class.
- Inform your parent of your score (they are now on Student Connect) so they are also aware of your score.
- Have your parent write something to me indicating that they saw your score by writing the score in the letter. They also need to sign the letter giving permission for the retake.
- This letter doesn’t need to be anything long, just a couple of sentences informing me of the above.
- The retest will be scheduled for Thursday after school, if this does not work you need to let me know ASAP (retakes must still be done by the end of the week).
*There will be an optional tutoring session in my room tomorrow for 30 minutes after school*
Please, email me with any questions.
