October 21- 25

Hello Families!

Thank you for a wonderful parent meeting!  I know the children enjoyed showing you our books.  I hope everyone was able to take away some ideas from our meeting that can be used at home along with utilizing the resources from our Dearborn Libraries.

Well things around here just keep getting more and more busy!  We have finished our colors and will start our letter journey this week.  We will learn 2 letters a week.  We will be sending a note home about the order in which we will be learning our letters!  I hope you are as excited about this letter journey as we are!

We are continuing to grow each day and starting to become more independent.  We are working on solving our problems simply, getting materials we need during work time, and learning how to take care of ourselves (sneezing or coughing in our sleeve, getting a Kleenex, washing our hands and preparing for arrival and dismissal on our own).

What We Are Learning…

Names-

We are learning to recognize the letters in our name and the order the letters go in.  Please practice on recognizing the letters in your child’s name and the order in which they go (Rajaa- R-a-j-a-a).

Letters-

This week begins our letter journey.  Each week, we will focus on 2 new letters.  Students will learn to identify the letters, the sound, recognize the letter in print and write the letter on their own.  Please practice these letters at home with your child.

Ll- Larry Lion

Ff- Fifi Fish

Colors-

Please review colors learned by finding them in your home (on clothing, boxes, in books) or while out at the store or even playing outside (red, blue, yellow, green, purple, orange, brown,  black,  pink, white, gray)

Reminders-

· Please make sure you continue to check  and empty your child’s folder (and backpack) for important notes and the work they do.

· Make sure your child dresses for the weather.  We are getting into cold mornings and cool afternoons.  Please make sure your child has a heavy coat, hat and gloves.  We will continue to go outside as the weather permits.
