My role as English Language Development Specialist is to collaborate and co-teach best practices of literacy & language instruction with teachers in classrooms in whole group and small group settings.

My mission is increase student achievement through utilizing best practices in partnership coaching and co-teaching with classroom teachers.

Goals:

1. To co-teach with classroom teachers during classroom literacy instruction.

2. To co-teach small group instruction with the lowest 30% of students.

3. To collaborate with the leadership team to facilitate professional learning.

4. To model and observe best practices strategies in whole group, small group, or one on one to facilitate teacher’s professional learning.

5. To participate actively in school MTSS (multi-tiered system of support) process regarding the needs of the lowest 30% students.

6. To assist teachers in the art of reflection to improve their practice to ultimately increase student achievement.

Co-teaching is an embedded professional learning activity for district teachers. Teachers volunteer to partner with the ELD specialist on an element of instructional practice of their choice.
