Hello students and parents,

This week in class we are continuing our literature circle unit. Each day, students will read up to 10 minutes in class. If you are absent, it is recommended that you read at home for 10 minutes. Remember, we are reading these books in class though, so try not to finish it (which can be hard…these are good books!).

This week we are writing a reading response in class about point of view. First, we filled out the RACES graphic organizer (here) to answer the question: “What is the point of view of your lit circle book? Why do you think that author used that point of view?” Next, students turned their graphic organizer into a “final draft”. If you were absent, you could print this document and create your final draft on this paper (here).

It is important that you cite a direct quote in your reading response! To do this you should use quotations and finish it with parthensis using the author’s name and page number. So it would look like this: “the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree…” (Smith 8).

If you are absent and have any questions please don’t hesitate to email me!
