Class Dojo

Please sign up for class Dojo if you have not already 🙂 This will allow us to communicate more effectively and immediately throughout the school day. I can send messages out to the class and you as the parent have the option of messaging me if you have any concerns or questions.

If you need another access code, please let me know and I will send one home with your child.

Thanks!

Welcome Back!

Dear Families,

Welcome back to school! My name is Ms. Lacey and I will be teaching your child this school year. A little bit about me: This is my second year at Nowlin in the ASD department. Previously, I worked with students with cognitive impairments and learning disabilities. I graduated from Michigan State University and I am currently completing my masters in Autism at Wayne State. I am so excited to take on this year with your children. Teaching is truly my passion and I am hoping we can all work together to create a successful year of learning for our students.

I am sending home a beginning of the year survey in order to understand your child from your perspective. This information will help me to better understand my new students and what works for them!

I will also be sending a school supplies list. Please donate whatever you can. Anything is appreciated 🙂 In addition, if you want to see what’s happening in the classroom & receive updates, I will subscribe you to my blog.

If you have any questions or concerns you may contact me via E-mail, by calling the school, or sending me a text message on my personal number (313)-720-8828.

Blue Hands United Presents….

A Party Under the Sea! This autism awareness event is brought on by the local organization, Blue Hands United.

It will be held at Unis Middle School in Dearborn on Sunday, April 8th. This is a FREE event. Food, games, crafts, and a raffle with prizes will all be part of this wonderful event.

Each ASD classroom at Nowlin is asked to donate a raffle basket to the event. Parents are welcome to donate kid-friendly, inexpensive items (possibly summer themed) for our classroom gift basket.

Hope to see you there! See flyer below for more details.

Donate to a Great Cause :)

The Painted Turtle is a summer camp located in Southern California that strives to provide children with terminal illnesses and diseases a chance to put illness aside and enjoy the summer of a lifetime. In order to raise awareness, a close friend of mine named Colin, is biking the coast of California to spread his message of hope and encourage others to donate to this great cause. Colin has personally volunteered at this camp for 3 summers, so he knows what an impact this special place has on children. By clicking the link below you will be redirected to Colin’s fundraising page. He has already raised a total of $15,000 and this will send 6 children to camp. Let’s help send more kids to camp!! Any amount is greatly appreciated!
