Week of 3/11/19

Please continue to keep checking Dojo for weekly updates 🙂

Last week we read the narrative The Old Lady Who Swallowed A Clover. Students practiced identifying the author, illustrator, characters, and setting. In addition, we practiced sequencing the events of the story with a fun shoe box activity where students fed the old lady the items she swallowed in the story. Take a peak below 🙂

  • This week we will be switching back to informational text and learning about the life cycle of a butterfly (see below). Then, we will compare & contrast that to the life cycle of a clover since St. Patrick’s day is approaching.
  • Continue to practice sight words at home and reading books.
  • Letter of the week=W
  • In math, we are working on the concepts of more/less (kindergarten) and measuring objects with non-standard units like cubes or counting bears (1st grade).
  • As always,  thanks for your support at home!
  • March is reading month activities this week: Pajama day on Friday 3/15.
