November Newsletter

We had a wonderful time in our classroom in November! We’ve been busy working on identifying colors, shapes, and some letters and numbers. We have also been working on name recognition which we will continue working on in December. We’re really getting good at finding our lockers. The children are working hard on using manners with teachers and with each other. They are doing great with saying please and thank you and excuse me when they need to get around a friend.

In December, we will be working on color mixing with primary colors into secondary colors. We will continue to work on dressing for outdoors independently. We are learning to flip our coats on and have been proud of our accomplishments so far! We’ll be starting with putting on backpacks next.

Please continue to send your child with their folder and sign-in/sign-out forms. I understand this is an inconvenience, but it is a state required aspect of our program. Most children are doing wonderful with wearing a mask. All children are required by the district to wear a mask in the building. Please ensure your child is wearing a mask at drop-off.

We are having a great time with your children. Thank you for your involvement and support. As always, contact us with questions or concerns.

Welcome Back

Families, as we return from holiday breaks from school, please help us keep your children safe by following the guidelines provided by our wonderful Dearborn Public Schools nurses. If your child or anyone in your household has been exposed to Covid or has any of the symptoms listed below please keep your child home and follow directions provided on the screening tool below. Thank you for helping us keep our classroom healthy! Please remember to send your child in a mask. They are doing a wonderful job keeping their masks on throughout the day, we are so proud of them. As always, contact me with any questions or concerns.

October Newsletter

We had a wonderful time in our classroom in October learning about the changing seasons. We looked at changing fall leaves, cut open pumpkins and were able to explore their insides, and made spider webs with a marble dipped in paint for Halloween! As the children become more competent with our daily routine, we are adding news things. They are now bringing their water bottles into the classroom and storing them independently, sitting for songs and stories on the rug together, cleaning up their snack at the table, and collecting their folders at the end of the day from the teachers. Looking forward we will be working on dressing for outdoor weather and starting to discuss the calendar and the weather.

In November, we will be discussing our families, how to be a good friend, and being thankful. Please feel free to email or print out a picture of your family for your child to show to the class. We are also starting to work on letter recognition as we continue with letters I, T, C, and U. We will be making a friendship snack mix for Thanksgiving! I’ll be posting on the Classdojo for families who would like to contribute. Every child will have something to add to our snack mix. This is a great way to build community in the classroom! Your child will be able to scoop out their share of our mix and take it home for the holiday break.

I am still working on having the ichat forms processed. Thank you for your patience as we work through these. Everything is a bit slower this year as everyone is getting back to their routines.

Reminders:

Please ensure your child’s sign-in forms are completed for each week. I will be sending home dated forms in the coming weeks for you to complete if they are missing. This is a licensing requirement for our program, and we have to have them on file. Thank you for your cooperation.

We are having a great time with your children. Thank you for your involvement and support. As always, contact us with questions or concerns.

September Newsletter

We had a wonderful first month in the classroom! Your children have been busy learning and discovering in the classroom. Our September themes have been “All About Me” where we focused on getting to know one another. We have been working hard at taking turns, being respectful of toys and books in the classroom, and being good friends to each other. We have also been working on our daily schedule and classroom routine. Most recently we talked about apples and opened our sensory table for the first time to make “apple pies” with oatmeal, apples, and cooking utensils.

In October we’re looking forward to exploring changing leaves, pumpkins, farm animals, and Halloween. Looking forward, we will start talking about the calendar and using our senses to talk about the weather. We will also introduce our friend Mat Man and big lines and little lines which will help us with the formation of upper case letters L, F, E, and H.

We are having such a great time with your children. Thank you for your involvement and support.

Sincerely,

Miss Christina and Miss Seena

Welcome to Mini Scholars!

Hi! I’m Miss Christina. I am the lead developmental preschool teacher here at Lindbergh. I am brand new to Dearborn Public Schools, just like your child. We will be adjusting to this new space together. Previously, I was lead preschool teacher for three years in Birmingham, Mi. Tuesday and Thursday I will be spending time with your children. On Monday, Wednesday, Friday, I will be with the ‘Little Scholars’ in the same classroom. I can’t wait to get to know you and your children! I’m looking forward to a wonderful school year. Please feel free to contact me at any time with questions, concerns, or just to chat! The best way to reach me will be via email. The classroom phone number can be used during school hours M-F.
