Week of September 9th

Dear Families,

I hope that all of you have enjoyed the first week of school.  The students are starting to become comfortable in their new learning environment.  This week in class we talked about our classroom community and how to get along with are new classmates, we also went over classroom rules.

The theme for the week of September 9th will be all about me.  We will talk about student’s favorite foods, colors, number and families.  We ask that student bring a picture of their family to school this week so they can share it with the class.  This will also make the students feel more comfortable during their first full week of school.  We will return the pictures once we are finished.  We will also be introducing the letter A this week, in the Little Scholar class students will be learning how to hold a writing utensil, this will be done by working on the letter A and learning how to write their first names.

In mini scholars we will learn about the letter A by pasting objects that begin with the letter A. Students will be working on their fine motor skills by using glue sticks and learning how to draw lines with their crayons.

Both classes are doing great with adjusting to the start of school.  I will be sending out a monthly calendar with important dates to remember.  This month with the start of school we do not have any special activities planned.  The special activities will start in October.

Starting next week students will be receiving the ME bag this is a show in tell bag.  Each day a different student will receive the ME bag and they can bring in something for show in tell to share with the class.  We will also be starting story bags as well. This will have a story with crayons and a notebook.  Students can read the story with their parents and draw a picture about the story. The bags will be given to students in alphabetical order and once each student receives the bags we will start over from the stop of the alphabet.
