We are excited to share an end-of-the-year event that will be both fun and raise money for a cause that is close to our hearts and has touched everyone in our school. In order to show our support for Miss Johnston, many teachers have offered their time and talents to come up with “experiences” that they will share with students in a fundraising effort. These experiences are being offered through a raffle whereby the kids can purchase tickets and then put them into the drawing for the experience (or experiences) of their choice. Parents of winning students will need to provide transportation to and from the location of the event. Teachers will work with winners to find a mutually agreeable date and time that works for everyone, and we expect most of these experiences to take place during the summer. Drawings will take place June 11. Tickets will be $1.00 each or 6 for $5.00. Tickets sales will take place in the mornings before outdoor lineup and at selected school events these last few weeks of the school year. In addition, tickets will be sold by staff going around to classrooms at the beginning of the day on limited days.

All students and teachers at Whitmore-Bolles are going to be setting personal goals for themselves and tracking their progress towards their goal. In your child’s folder today you will find the template for this project. Once your child decides on their personal goal, here’s what to put in each blank space:
I want to improve from (put where they are now for their goal) to (where they want to be) by (how long they think it will take to meet their goal. I would give them at least 1 month). To reach my goal (how are they going to meet their goal i.e. practicing something a certain amount of time, listening the first time, using a habit). Accountability partners can be class or family members. These are people that will help the student reach their goal.
O.K. once that is done, students need to decide how they are going to track their progress. I’m using a calendar to track how much water I drink and how many squats I do per day. The children are familiar with using calendars to track their behavior goal and classroom goal. You can make your own tracking calendar or I can make one for the student when they return their goal setting sheet.
Let me know if you have any questions! I am excited to see the students grow at a personal level this quarter!
Personal goal sheets are due: Monday, January 28th. Since this is a take home project, please send pictures of you and your child working on the project together if you can. I would love to see them teaching the habits to you at home!
Wishing you and your family a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Let the spirit of the Holiday season fill your home with love, laughter, and joy. May the coming year bring you cheer, prosperity, health, and happiness! See you in 2019!!!
