COURSE SELECTION

Dearborn High has made their presentation to our 8th graders. These sheets are due ASAP to the Counseling Office. I am now in the process of visiting classrooms to deliver the EFHS sheets. Remember that honors core classes are decided by test scores. That leaves one elective per semester. On the sheet these are on the right hand side. Column one is first semester and the other is semester two. Please chose wisely. These sheets will transfer if you change schools. EFHS will be at Stout April 18th at 1:00 [5th hour]. At that time they will be discussing the transition to high school.

PSAT

On Wednesday, Feb 24th beginning at 8:00 am all 8th graders will take the PSAT, this replaces the EXPLORER that has been given in previous years. They will likewise take it again in 9th grade. This will prepare them for the SAT in 11th grade, which is now required in place of the ACT. There will also be a 10th grade exam that, with the required score or above, will qualify them for the Collegiate Academy through Henry Ford College. More information is available on Dearborn Schools Website.

Henry Ford Early Colleges

Yesterday Karry Bazzi, counselor, spoke to all Stout 8th graders about this opportunity. Their website is a great source of information and gives you access to the applications. Please make sure that you read the directions carefully and submit before the deadline. The selection process of qualified candidates is by lottery, which takes place in approximately 6 weeks.

Dearborn High Visitation

On March 4th, a Friday, they will be meeting with future pioneers to plan for the next 4 years of school. They will be assembling in the auditorium at 10:30. This is only open to students that are scheduled to go there. Edsel Ford  has yet to set a date, but their presentation is similar. So even if a planned move will put you in the Dearborn High neighbor, please attend the presentation that you are scheduled to go to.

Early College

Feb. 17th at 10:20, all 8th graders are reporting to the auditorium for a presentation on this opportunity for a combined High School and 2 year College degree. This would be instead of our regular 4 year high schools. Information and applications are available now on their website under schools on Dearborn’s website.
