End of school reminders!

Hi everyone,

I hope you all enjoyed a restful break!

I wanted to remind everyone that tomorrow is the Birthday Bash! Students do not need to bring a lunch to school.

This Friday is our field trip to Howell Nature Center. Students received a waiver to sign and return last week. They must bring the waiver back in order to participate in the field trip.

Next Wednesday, June 12 is the 4th Grade Picnic at York Park from 1-3 PM. All are welcome. πŸ™‚ I will have more details on that later this week!

Thank you!

Permission slip reminder, pictures, and thank you!

Hi everyone!

Just a quick reminder that tomorrow, May 31, the permission slip for our field trip to Howell Nature Center is due. Please make sure to send $12 in cash with the signed slip. I will post an extra copy of the permission slip below. Howell Nature Permission Slip

I also realized as I was uploading pictures that I never posted the wonderful bulletin board Mrs. Reda and Mr. Deaibes made! A HUGE thank you to them, and ALL of you, for making Teacher Appreciation Week so special, and for making me feel appreciated! You have no idea how much your support means! πŸ™‚ I am lucky to work with such wonderful students and families.

The rest of the pictures are from the Clean Up Parade and the PBL Science projects we did last week. The students did a great job!!

Project-Based Learning Projects!

Hi everyone!

All of our fourth graders have been working hard and enjoying their life science unit. This project-based learning combines art, science, reading, and writing. To celebrate and display their projects and food chains/food webs, we will be hosting a gallery walk of all projects next Wednesday, May 22nd at Howard. You are invited to come view your child’s hard work between 10:30-11:30. Students will be standing with their projects to help explain and share what they have done. The projects will also be on display until 3:00 that day, if you cannot make it earlier (however the students will be back in class at this time). We look forward to sharing with you!

We will be working on NWEA testing this week and next. Ask your child about their math NWEA score today– I am SO proud of them and their accomplishments! Let’s keep up the great work! πŸ™‚

M-Step Reminder!

Hi everyone! Just a reminder that M-Step testing begins tomorrow. We will test Tuesday, Wednesday, and possibly Thursday this week if needed. The same schedule will be followed next week. Please encourage your children to try their best, and make sure they get a good night’s sleep and eat a healthy breakfast each day! Please also make sure that students are on time and ready to begin testing right away in the morning. I have confidence they will do a great job. πŸ™‚

Week of April 22

Hi there, I hope everyone had a great long Easter weekend!

Our spelling words for this week are Greek roots. They must know the root and its meaning, spelling both correctly. The list includes: bio= life, auto= self, logy= study, micro = small, morph =form, scope = viewing instrument, therm = heat, hydro = water, dyna= power, and chrom= time.

We begin M-Step testing next week, on Tuesday (April 30). We will be testing the following week of May 6, as well. This will be directly followed by NWEA testing. Please remind your student of the importance of focusing, trying their best, and building their stamina to work hard. Please also make sure students are getting a good night’s sleep and eating a healthy breakfast on those days.

Students have practiced in school, but there are many resources they can use to practice at home, including:
-Read Theory
-Khan Academy (sign in through Clever, go to khanacademy.org/mappers)
-M-STEP practice through the Dearborn Students Portal
-Zearn

If you have any questions, let me know.

Updates for the week of April 8

Hi everyone!

Report cards went home today with your student. The reading and math levels underneath marking period 3 are based on the NWEA tests your child took in January. They will take one more set of NWEA tests in May. Please look over the report card and discuss with your child!

Spring pictures also went home today. Please either return the pictures or money for the pictures, or a combination of both. πŸ™‚

Finally, the book projects are looking great! The students have been doing a nice job presenting their work. I am looking forward to seeing the rest of the projects as they come in!

Just a few updates

Hi there,

PTA is asking for new or gently used book donations for Bingo for Books on Monday, March 25. It is always a fun event to attend if you are able!

For homework tonight, please help your child look over the first page of the math review, front and back. We will take the first part of our Module 3 assessment tomorrow covering these concepts, and save the word problems portion for Friday.

Our spelling words for this week are homophones in the form of dictation sentences, meaning students will have to spell the whole sentence correctly with proper punctuation and capitalization to get full points.

Have a great night!

Reminders for tomorrow (Friday, March 14)

Hi everyone!

Remember, tomorrow is our field trip to the DIA. We talked about having students bring their lunches in disposable bags with their name on it, as well as disposable drinks (water or juice).

Reading minutes for Week 2 are due tomorrow!

It is also Spring Picture Day. Students will get their pictures taken when we return from the field trip.

If we run out of time, we may take our homophone spelling test Monday instead.

Looking forward to a great day!

Reading Month Updates

Hi everyone!

A few things.
Thank you to Luca and Sareen for creating reading posters and participating in our first Spirit Wednesday for Reading Month!

Tomorrow is “Fact in Your Pocket” day. Check your reading calendar for more information. πŸ™‚ Also, weekly minutes are due Friday. Remember, this is a school-wide contest, and also a classroom contest!

Finally, a note from Student Council:

“Hello Families,

This Friday will be our first β€œStudent Council Friday”. For a donation of $1.00 the students will be able to wear a hat of their choice all day long or bring their favorite stuffed animal to hang out with them at school (it must be able to fit in their backpack). They can do both hat and stuffed animal for the discounted price of $1.50. All money raised will go to the Student Council Fund which will be used to benefit the students based on their suggestions. Please help us help them.”

Have a great night!
