It’s Recorder Karate Time!!!
Parents/Guardians of 4th Grade Students,
It is that time of year that we are playing recorders! The cost is $3.50 and each child will receive his or her own recorder, case, and book. We will be playing recorders until the end of the year, therefore it is crucial that your child brings his or her recorder every day that he or she has music. The cost is due Monday, March 9.
Every level corresponds with a “karate belt” color for example if your child passes level one he or she will receive a white belt for his or her recorder. There are 9 levels of varying difficulties. I will have specific dates for each level being tested.
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns! So excited to start recorders and this next musical endeavor with your child!
Kind Regards,
Ms. Charissa Los
Happy New Year!!! So excited to be back in the swing of things for 2015!
Each grade level will be working on similar concepts: Instrument playing, matching pitch, and exploring music within literature. Grades 2nd-5th grade will start using their textbooks by the end of this month.
Kindergarten and 1st grade will be focusing on movement with steady beat and will also be introduced to instrument families in the next months.
2nd and 3rd grade are just starting a unit on Theme and Variation.
4th and 5th grade are going to be challenged to compose, and explore the classroom text Spotlight on Music.
(4th grade will start the recorder in March, so be on the lookout for info regarding instruments.)
Hope everyone is having a great start to the New Year!
Peace and Love!
