Hello My Friends!

I hope everyone is having a wonderful summer! I wanted to update you all on my first day of my music teaching summer Orff workshop!

Day 1:

Today I learned many games including a couple name games that we will get to play this fall! I also got a new recorder and learned a new recorder technique that I can not wait to share with all of you!

Below is a picture of me with some of the instruments the music teachers at the workshop and myself will be playing on for the next 2 weeks!

Since we are talking about harmonies

Are the two pitches below 3rds, 4ths, or 5ths (think repeat, step, skip, and leap)? Could we call the notes below a harmony?

What a great year we have had in Madrigal Choir at McDonald Elementary. I am so pleased with your hard work and dedication.  To our 5th Graders; we will miss you, but please continue to sing and join choir in middle school! Can’t wait to see the rest of you in the fall!

Madrigal Choir Members:

I am very proud of all the hard work from my Madrigal Choir Students!  We will celebrate the end of the year with a pizza party next week June 1st!!! This will be our FINAL rehearsal of the year!

I will provide the pizza, but please bring one of the following

• Juice/pop
• Chips
• Sweets (cookies/cupcakes)

We created fraction beat plates. 1 plate = 4 beats

whole note = 4 beats

half note = 2 beats

quarter note = 1 beat

2 eighth notes = 1 beat

*MAY/JUNE* Happenings! 

• Kindergarten : Working on 4 beat rhythms; speaking, clapping, and playing on instruments.
• 1st/2^nd Grade : Completed rhythm tests and will continue singing and playing pitches high medium and low (so, mi, do)
• 3^rd Grade : Treble clef focus and will start discussing how pitches move on the music staff.
• 4^th Grade: Will be working on new recorder music along with treble clef review. Remember to come in and test for your highest belt! Our Year is almost finished! We will also be introducing harmony parts to some of our recorder pieces.
• 5^th Grade : Will be selecting our graduation music, and preparing for graduation.

Congratulations to McDonald Elementary 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students for a fabulous concert. You all worked so hard memorizing and practicing your concert music, and your hard work paid off! I am so proud of each and everyone of you and I am blessed by your musical talents!
