Updates…

Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms, aunts, grandmothers, godmothers, and special women in our children’s lives. We have done a good job. Our job is never done and we never stop worrying. However, we helped mold them into the wonderful children they are becoming.  Keep up the good work.

M-STEP is almost done for our fourth graders. We only have Math left this week. We have tried to break up the test so students are only tested in the mornings. Also, we do attend our specials to stagger the amount of time students are actually being tested. The students are taking this very seriously and I am very proud at how hard they are working.

Some of you will be contacted about summer school. There are only so many slots so be sure to take advantage of this opportunity for your child. It will support the progress they have made and keep them from falling back.

Please continue to work on multiplication facts and read daily.

Happy Spring…

…and you know what that means? The end of the year is approaching quickly….There are many assessments being administered. Please make sure your child gets a good night sleep and eats a good breakfast. It is imperative and proven that students score better when they are well rested and fed. These tests take a long time and we are doing our best to break it up as much as possible. Students are constantly reminded to take their time and do their best. Many of the activities have been scheduled in May, since Ramadan starts at the end of May. NWEA scores will be handed out as soon as they are completed. We won’t have M-STEP results right away, but you will get them as soon as possible.

Thanks for you continued support.

Please check school calendar…

As we begin the fourth quarter, please remind your child we are not done yet. In fact, this is one of the most important times of the year. YEAR END ASSESSMENTS!!! That means, we want to see how much growth your child has made from September til June. Everyone needs to make a years’ growth no matter where on the continuum they fall. It is important that they are well rested, have a good breakfast, and do their best. Some classes have already started M-STEP and NWEA. We start NWEA on April 19.  Please try not to make appointments, or vacations during this time.

Thanks for your continued support…Enjoy Spring…I think it is here to stay…

It’s Spring….

Thanks to all the parents and guest readers who came in to read for March is Reading Month.  Spring is upon us and you know what that means…warmer weather…sun is out longer…and we still have a lot of work to do. Please remind your child we still have 10 weeks of hard work to do. We must finish out the year strong by reading, writing, studying, and completing homework. Let’s not forget to be respectful and tolerant of one another. Thanks for your continued support.

March is Reading Month

Please check the March calendar daily as there will be many activities for March is Reading Month. Also, please sign the calendar to verify your child is reading. The calendars will have a goal on them for fourth graders. Take this time to read with your child. It is such a privilege to read with your child. Some of my fondest memories with my children was when we would read together. We all had favorite books and authors. Also, I will send out forms so if you would like to come in and read to our class you are most welcome to join us. Students always look forward to the times that their parents or special someone come in to read. Our theme this year is “Reading Rocks.”

Special Events for Reading Month ….. Check your Calendars …. The first one is this week…stay tuned….

Mid-winter Break….

I am not complaining, but it is hard to believe it is the end of February. We are more than half way through this school year. We have made some progress, but have a lot more to do between now and the end of the year. Please be sure to sign planners. Your child always has homework. READ…READ…READ…Also, practice those multiplication facts every night.

I am sure your child may have shared with you that my husband bought me flowers for Valentine’s Day, and they were delivered by Paws from the Detroit Tigers. It was quite a surprise.

Report Cards this week…

Please look for your child’s report card this week. Also, their NWEA scores for fall and winter will be sent home with report cards. We have a lot of work to do. There is so much more learning to do.  Please look and sign your child’s planner everyday so you can keep up with what we are studying and support them at home.

They should be reading every night and practicing multiplication.

Looking forward to another productive week.

Thank you…

I would like to thank the parents that came to  the parent meeting to meet me. I hope it was meaningful. I tried to give you suggestions on how to help your child. I  had a handout and for those of you unable to attend, I sent it home with your child.

Please remember to  sign their planners everyday, so that we can keep up with the communication. I don’t want you to be unaware of how your child is doing. Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns.

The NWEA is over for now, but we will be testing again at the end of the year.

Have a great weekend…
