Happy March…

Our Field Trip to the  movies has been rescheduled to March 22. This is also, conference day. I will be notifying some parents to meet with me. If you want to meet with me and I don’t notify you, please let me know ahead of time.

Happy Snow Day ❄️❄️❄️❄️

The field trip that was scheduled for Friday, March 2 will be rescheduled as soon as we can.  We will need to coordinate all the March is Reading Month Activities, busses, and the theater. We will still be going. Stay warm… enjoy the extra day off. 😀

WIDA – starts this week. This is the bilingual test that incorporates: reading, writing, listening and speaking. Students must pass all the tests for 2 years before they can exit.

February 1….

Report Cards went home today!!!!

NWEA Results went home today for Reading and Math!!!

Today was Town Hall and tomorrow is Rewards. Students may bring in electronics or a board game.

It is also GROUNDHOG DAY…will we have 6 more weeks of winter or more???????

Jan. 22 Update

Happy Monday…

We have completed the NWEA tests for Reading and Math. I will be sending home the results soon. In Math, we are working on multiplication. Please practice the facts up to 10 x 10. In Social Studies, we continue to study the History of Michigan. We will be taking notes and then a study guide will be given before the test. In Science, we will be starting our new unit on Plants. In Language, we will be finalizing our two writing pieces – comparing and contrasting two Native American Tribes AND a prompt on kindness. Your child may ask you to help proof read it. This week’s Spelling List is as follows:

Happy New Year…

Unusual weather we are having, but that’s Michigan. One might think we should be use to it by now, but some of us never get use to it.

NWEA starts this week. Most students completed their Reading Assessment. Please ask your child their score. If you have the scores from conference time, you will me able to see your child’s progress. If not, please email me and I will be sure that you get an accurate result. It is very important that progress is being made. If not, you will hear from me soon. There may be some after school tutoring in Reading for them to attend.

Please keep them Reading every night.

Let it snow…Let it snow…Let it snow…

Dec. 18-22… Next week will be a very busy week. We will be trying to finish up units in Math, Science and Social Studies. We will be having tests in Math and Social Studies. Please make sure your child studies for these assessments as they will effect their grades. We will be finishing our Science Unit on Flight. Their Launch Log will be graded.

This week is Spirit Week. On Monday, it is Mix and Match Day. Tuesday is Twin Day, so dress like someone else. Wednesday is Pajama Day.  Thursday is Sports day.  Friday is Ugly Sweater Day or wear green and red. Please feel free to participate in any or all of these activities.

We will also participating in Town Hall and Rewards Day for PBIS.  We have a Lions Assembly on Thursday, too.

We may be watching a video this week or in the future as a reward for our hard work or as a break during testing days. Please fill out the form to allow your child to participate to view PG movies.

Since we will be having winter break a packet will be given out on Thursday. All students are expected to complete it. We will be taking the NWEA as soon as we get back in January.

Happy December…

Week 11 – Spelling Words :    found, cloud, pound, ground, sound, noun, loud, mound, round, bound

Calendars for Book It were passed out today. We will be on Winter Break the last week in December and the first week of January. Students should be reading 30 minutes every night. They can use minutes in school, at home, or on the computer for Book It.

November is winding down….

As November comes to an end, and holidays are just around the corner, I remind you we still have a lot of work to do. We are working on measuring to the nearest 1/2 and 1/4 inch. Then we will be tackling line plots, area, and perimeter. In Language, we are working on information text. The history of Michigan will be our next unit in Social Studies. A perfect time to be learning the contributions Native Americans have made to Michigan. We will continue working on force in Science. NWEA testing will be here before you know it. As soon as we come back in January, so practice, practice, practice.
