Week 1

Planners were passed out today. Please sign them everyday. Your child should be filling out the planner on a daily basis. I am encouraging them to write neat so you can read it. If you have not seen your child’s planner, please ask them about it.

We started our new Math program today called Eureka Math. They have a workbook that we work on together in class and an exit page. The exit page is what I look at because the work on this page is done independently. They have a workbook that goes home with them. We will probably have homework in Math every night. It is a pretty intense and scripted program. If we don’t keep pace, then we will not get through all 7 modules. It will hard at first, but I am confident as I get use to the program, so will they. Please be patient…

If you child has a summer packet, please return it to class anytime.

We have a peanut allergy in our room. Please do not send a snack with peanuts.

Thanks for your support and cooperation.

Welcome Back – 2018-2019

Welcome Back…

I am always very excited and nervous when returning to school, even though I have been teaching for many years. Every year is filled with new adventures, new expectations, and a lot of new learning for me and my students.  I am looking forward to meeting my new students on Monday, August 27. We will be having a half day so we can all ease into a new school year. I can’t wait to “Meet the Cast of Room 214.”

Have a wonderful summer!!!

As the year winds down, the big question teachers are always asked is what should we do over the summer so that our students are ready for fourth grade?

Please give your child opportunities to read books at their level. A trip to the local library is a good start. Also, let them pick out books that interest them. The best way to become a life long reader is to read books, magazines, comic books, or anything they enjoy. And yes, even books on the computer. We have given you several websites to refer to throughout the year.

Also, we will be giving students a Math Workbook. They are not expected to do the entire book. Check their NWEA summary and have them work on the skills that they scored LOW OR AVERAGE LOW. Then go to the pages with those skills. We will be getting a new Math program next year, so we felt these workbooks would give students a good review of all skills and concepts.

Thanks for you support and cooperation all school year.

ENJOY AND HAVE A WONDERFUL SUMMER!!!!!!

April Showers…Bring May Flowers…

We are half way through May and the days are going by fast.

We have completed the M-Step and will now focus on the NWEA. I told my students that we will try to spread out the assessments as much as possible. We will only test in the mornings and will only give one assessment per day. I do hope to finish these assessments by Memorial Day. As temperatures rise, students become less focused.

Upcoming assignments: Fraction Test, Government Test, Animal Report, district compare and contrast prompt.

I know Ramadan starts this week…we will do our best to ensure the students understand and respect each others’ choices.

Thanks for your continued support…

Field Trip on May 21 to Greenfield Village.
