March 14- Miguel Cabrera

Jose Miguel Cabrera Torres, commonly known as Miguel Cabrera, was born and raised in Venezuela. He started out his career as a major-league baseball player for the Florida Marlins in 2003 at the age of 20. He was traded to the Detroit Tigers in 2007, and has been playing with them ever since. He has been awarded the American League MVP award twice and is also an eleven-time All Star. In 2012, Miguel was the first player to win the batting Triple Crown since 1967. He had the highest batting average, number of home runs, and number of runs batted in for the 2012 season. In 2012, Miguel created the Miguel Cabrera Foundation, which is dedicated to helping multiple children’s funds and to encouraging children to play baseball and softball. He also starting selling a line of candy called Miggy’s Bitbits. These are chocolate covered rice snacks that come in a variety of flavors.
