Classroom Events

  • 5th Grade Solar System Test, Thursday, January 30th

Curriculum:

Math:

  • 5th Grade – Students will continue to add and subtract mixed number fractions with unlike denominators, assess the reasonableness of their answer, and solve multi-step word problems.
  • 4th Grade – Students are measuring and drawing angles using a protractor.

Reading :

5th Grade: Students will identify the theme of a drama using details collected about the characters.

4th Grade: Students will better understand a story by drawing details from the setting.

Writing – Students are working to complete an M-Step Field Test which will provide them with invaluable experience on taking the M-Step Test.

Social Studies:

  • 4th Grade – Students are examining movement of people in the United States by examining Pushes and Pulls.
  • 5th Grade – Students will be joining Mr. DeSantis’ class for Social Studies this year. 

Science:

  • 4th Grade – Students have begun “Waves of Sound”. This unit helps students develop the idea that sound is an actual thing, a wave of vibrations traveling through the air.
  • 5th Grade – Students will be joining Ms. Sherlock’s class for Science this year. Students will have a Solar System Test on January 30.

Spelling:

All classroom spelling lists, activities, and tests will be online this year.  Students will be given spelling words on Monday each week and tested on Friday.   Please see this document to learn how to view your child’s grades.  Students are expected to study their words at home each night.  Here are some ideas on how to practice words with your child,  Spelling Practice Ideas(please note, the directions on it do not apply).
