- 4th Grade Mid Module Assessment, Thursday 10/10
Curriculum:
Math:
- 5th Grade – Students will multiply whole numbers by multiples of 10 and estimate multi-digit products by rounding factors to a basic fact. Students will also begin learning how to multiply two two-digit numbers using the standard algorithm.
- 4th Grade – Students will use their knowledge of metric units to add and subtract to solve multi-step word problems.
Reading :
4th Grade – Students will examine Historical Text and use cause and effect graphic organizers to comprend.
5th Grade – Students will summarize by identifying the main idea and supporting details of a text.
Writing – Our first writing assignment will focus on Narrative writing. Students will create their own story based on a Big Top Circus theme.
Social Studies:
- 4th Grade – The first unit will focus on how the United States can be divided into different regions based on physical and human characteristics.
- 5th Grade – Students will be joining Mr. DeSantis’ class for Social Studies this year. Their first unit of study will be an introduction to the Constitution and rights of citizens.
Science:
- 4th Grade – The first unit will focus on Energy. Students will learn how it is transferred, converted, and related to the speed of an object.
- 5th Grade – Students will be joining Ms. Sherlock’s class for Science this year. Their first unit of study will be the Structure and Properties of Matter.
Spelling:
All classroom spelling lists, activities, and tests will be online this year. Students will be given spelling words on Monday each week and tested on Friday. Please see this document to learn how to view your child’s grades. Students are expected to study their words at home each night.
