Dearborn Youth Arts Festival

I’ve been spending the morning preparing certificates and ribbons for this years Dearborn Youth Arts Festival participants! Lowrey Middle School will be represented by the amazing 10 students listed below at this years art show.

Annual art shows are one of my FAVORITE things about teaching art. It’s such a rewarding and fun night for everyone, the students, their parents and families, and for myself as well! These students should be really proud of their work – the creativity and energy and time that went into their projects.

Hopefully I will see you all on Wednesday night, April 25th, to celebrate with these students!

Found Object Sculptures!

This week the 3-D art students will be making found object sculptures in class. We’ve been studying artists like Marcel Duchamp, Robert Rauschenberg and Louise Nevelson. Now we’ll be using all of these great found objects and recycled materials to make our own assemblages and sculptures! Its a great exercise in creative thinking and I am excited to see what everyone comes up with. Stay tuned for the final results!

Student Work

The display cases outside the Middle School art room are full of new, colorful, creative, beautiful works of student art! Make sure you check them out. I’m so proud of everyone’s hard work and improvement.

Welcome (back) to Middle School Art!

It’s a new semester! A time for returning students to start fresh, and for new students to hopefully try new things and have fun too. Below is a syllabus that outlines some important information about art class. Please let me know if you have any questions. You can find me in Room 114 or you can email me – krugerl@dearbornschools.org.

I’m glad you’re here. I’m excited to get to know all your new faces and to see a few old faces back for more art. I look forward to making art with you and helping you practice creativity.

Paper Mache

The 7th and 8th Grade 3-D classes have been working really hard on their paper mache sculptures. I can’t wait to share the finished products with you!
