Children will be greeted at the door by the teachers. The teachers will bring children into the building where they will wash hands, hang up their belongings, and sign in. They will play with toys designated at the table tops until the teachers are ready to start their day. The children will gather on the rug for Circle Time where they will review the daily schedule, daily jobs in the classroom, the calendar, and the weather. Circle Time will conclude with songs and finger plays. The children will prepare for outdoor play. We will go outside in winter weather. Please dress your child or provide clothes appropriate for the weather. Upon returning from the playground, children will wash hands and have snack. Snack will be provided daily by one of the parents. We are a NUT FREE, DAIRY FREE classroom. After snack children will read independently in the reading center until all children have finished. Children will have time to explore centers after snack. Centers will include Math/Building, Science, Art, Writing, and Reading. On Monday the teachers will have one-on-one art activities planned for during center time. On Wednesday children will engage in a science activity. On Friday, teachers will have sensory letter play or a handwriting mini lesson prepared. We will conclude our fun afternoon with story time and our weekly letter song. Teachers will bring children outside to parents/guardians. You should pick up your child at the drop-off location.
We will offer children to use the restroom at various times throughout the day, like before outdoor play and after they finish with their snack.
COVID classroom protocol Per the district of Dearborn Public Schools' health and safety guidelines, children will be required to wear a mask in the building. Children will maintain social distance while indoors in the classroom. Children will be allowed to remove masks when playing outdoors. Please consider sending your child's mask on a lanyard so that masks are not lost during transitions. We ask parents and guardians to consider wearing a mask when dropping off and picking up children. To help children understand how wearing masks and social distancing will look at school this year, I have included a visual story that you can read to your child. There is the option to download and print the story out for your child as well. I hope you find this helpful as we transition back to the classroom together!
