November 28 – December 2 Shapes Are Everywhere

Welcome back!

Last week we reviewed our letters, numbers and our names.

This week we will learn a new letter “Ii” and continue with number “3” for one more week.  We will also talk about shapes.

Thursday, December 22nd   and Friday, December 23rd will bring a lot of fun activities.  We will have a book exchange on Thursday.  If you want your child to participate, please purchase a book for no more than $5.00 that a boy or a girl would like to receive.  Wrap it and put a tag on it that reads To: My friend, From: (Your child’s name).  Your child will go home with a book only if they bring in a book. On Friday, we will have a pajama, cookie decorating party.  More details will come.

November 21 and 22 Happy Thanksgiving

Dear Parents,

Last week we learned a new letter “Hh” and a new number “3”.  We also talked about Native Americans, pilgrims and turkeys.  We even danced the “Hokey Pokey Turkey”!

This week we will review our letters, numbers and names.

We will be having a pumpkin pie snack on Monday and having a “friendship” snack on Tuesday that we will make together.

There is no school on Wednesday, November 23rd, Thursday November 24th and Friday, November 25th for the thanksgiving holiday.

Please do not allow your child to bring toys or items that are from home into the classroom.  The items can be broken or even lost.

week of November 14 – 18 Native americans, pilgrims and turkeys

Dear Parents,

Last week we reviewed our letters and numbers and talked about harvest.  We also voted on what was the better graham cracker.  Chocolate won by a landslide!

This week we will learn a new letter “Hh” and new number “3”.  We will also talk about Native Americans, pilgrims and turkeys.

We will be having a “friendship” snack on Tuesday, November 22nd for our feast.  There will be a sign – up sheet on the clipboard.

There is no school on Wednesday, November 23rd, Thursday November 24th and Friday, November 25th for the thanksgiving holiday.

The weather is starting to get colder so please make sure the children have all the appropriate clothing to keep them warm and dry outside.  We will try to go outside everyday.

Wayne County Regional Enhancement Education Millage Proposal

 

School districts in Wayne County have placed a proposal on the November 8th ballot to provide added funding for our schools. It is the “Regional Enhancement Millage Proposal.”

If approved by the entire county, the 2 mil proposal will generate approximately $6.2 million from Dearborn but the District will receive $7.8 million in additional funding for our schools.  Money would go to local schools starting this year and the millage expires after six years.  Continue reading

November 7 – 11 Harvest Fun

Week of November 7 – 11 Harvest Fun

 

Dear Parents,

Last week we learned the letter “Gg” and a new number “3”.  Did the children read you their color farm books?

This week we will review our letters, “A-G” and review our numbers, “1-3”.  We will also talk about harvest and paint with Legos!

On Monday the children will be voting on what kind of graham cracker they like better: chocolate or plain.  Tuesday, November 8th, there is no school because it is Election Day.

There is no school on Wednesday, November 23rd, Thursday November 24th and Friday, November 25th for the thanksgiving holiday.

We will be having a “friendship” snack on Tuesday, November 22nd for our feast.  Watch for a sign-up sheet on the clipboard.

With it being color week, your child may want to dress up with the following colors:

Monday—orange and/or black

Tuesday—blue and/or brown

Wednesday—green and/or pink

Thursday—yellow and/or purple

Friday—white and/or red

Last week we learned the letter “Ff” and reviewed the number “2”.  We had a great Halloween party.  The children had so much fun.

This week we will learn a new letter “Gg” and a new number “3”.  We will also talk about colors and things on the farm.  The children will be the authors and illustrators to their first book.  They will bring it home to read to you!

Monday, October 31st will be wear black and orange day with a Monster movie and popcorn for snack.

week of October 17 – 21 Our Five Senses

Dear Parents,

Last week we learned the letter “Dd”, reviewed number “2” and talked about fire safety.  Have your child show you, Stop, Drop and Roll!

This week we will learn a new letter “Ee” and continue learning the number “2” and we will talk about our five senses.  We will have a taste test and a smelling test.

Snacks are always welcome.  Many of you have asked about bringing in a snack, the sign-up sheet in the hall is for the afternoon class, not us.  If you would like to bring in a snack, please remember:

*No peanuts

*No sesame seeds

*Nothing that is made where peanuts are produced

Please refrain from taking pictures or videos in the classroom, in the hallway or outside due to children with photo restrictions.

Change in schedule:

Our Halloween party will be on Friday, October 28th not Monday, October 31st, per the school’s principal.  Monday, October 31st will be black and orange day with a movie.  More details will later this week.  Watch for a sign-up sheet on the clipboard for our Halloween party.
