Week of October 23 – 27 Spooky Friends

Last week we learned the letter “Ee” and talked about spooky animal friends. We even had a visitor come to our classroom, Firefighter Andrew!  He showed us all the equipment that the fire fighters use and the clothing that they have to put on.

This week we will learn a new letter “Ff” and talked about spooky friends.  We will also talk about the color black and continue with number 2.

Our Halloween party will be on Tuesday, October 31st.  The children can wear costumes to school, if your child does not have a costume, they can wear something from the dress up area; please no weapons, masks or make up.  The sign – up sheet is on the clip board.  If your child is not scheduled for that day, you may bring your child and stay with them.  The time of the party will start at 10:30.

I am sending home the fundraiser that the afternoon class is handing out to their parents.  We would like to buy supplies and equipment for the classrooms.

There will be no school on Tuesday, November 7th.

We finally received our outside key from the school so we will be going outside everyday as long as the weather allows.

Sharing is a huge part of preschool for getting along with friends.  In the classroom, we explain sharing as when a child is done with the item then the other child can have it, not when a child wants something they get it.  Please reinforce this at home.

Teacher Letter

Hi!  My name is Ms. Lisa (Bonza),

I am so excited to work with you and your child.  It’s going to be a year full of fun, learning and lots of adventure and I can’t wait to see what the year has in store for us.

I moved to Dearborn from Pinckney, Michigan, 17 years ago when I got married.  My husband and I have three boys that attend Dearborn Public Schools.  My youngest, is starting middle school and my two oldest are in high school.  Although all of their sports and activities take up most of my free time, I always find time to foster puppies from the Taylor Animal Shelter.

I graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a bachelor’s of science degree in early childhood education.  This will be my eighth year teaching in the Dearborn Public Schools early childhood program.  I’m so excited to teach your child and to watch them grow and learn.

We follow the Dearborn Public school calendar so please go to the Dearborn Public Schools website and print off a calendar so you know the days off.  I will also post them on my blog and put them in the weekly newsletter.  The only difference is that our first day of school will be Wednesday, September 6th.  We have no half days or late start days, our schedule is from 8:00am to 12:00 noon, every day.

*Our orientation will be held on Tuesday, September 5th from 6:00pm to 6:30pm at Haigh Elementary, room 2.  I’m looking forward to meeting all of you in person.  Please bring the entire contents of your registration packet to the orientation.  All paperwork must be completed and turned in, in order for your child to attend.  I will also be in the classroom on Tuesday from 8:00am to 10:45am if you would like to stop by.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.  It is important to keep communication open between us.  I look forward to a great year together.
